Ratchets and Accessories for your Tool Kit

If you work with a lot of nuts and bolts, you already know that ratchets are your best friend.  Ratchets have progressed passed your Dad’s old ratchet set in the garage. There have been some great innovations…even for the ratchet.  I am highlighting a few ratchets and sockets that are handy to have in your tool kit!

Double Ratcheting Wrench Set

First off this cool set of double ratcheting wrenches. I really love the idea of this tool and think it’s super cool. Both the box end and the crescent end of this innovative wrench set are ratcheting. The ratchets don’t lock. On one face the ratchets tighten, flip the wrench around and now it loosens. I had never used a ratcheting crescent end wrench, it wasn’t perfect, but I was impressed!

Features

    • Set includes 6 combination wrenches sizes 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8 inch.
    • 100-position double ratcheting (box end needs just 3.6-degree swing)
    • Universal box-end fits 6-point, 12-point, square, E-Torx, spline, and partially rounded hex fasteners
    • Black oxide finish
    • Lifetime Warranty with no questions, no receipt required

Thin Wall Deep Socket

When battery powered impact drivers and impact wrenches came on the scene, people (me) started using their regular sockets with their high torque impacts. Some sockets are not necessarily rated to be impact worthy. Also when a socket was needed in limited clearance areas, sometimes people would grind down their regular sockets to be thin walled.

To provide for the need, Husky has come out with a set of thin wall deep sockets that are rated for impact drivers or wrenches (they make a metric set here.) The kit comes with 9 sockets ranging from 5/16″ up to 3/4″. The sockets can be used on your 3/8″ drive impact wrench (or ratchet) or use the included 1/4″ adapter to use the sockets with an impact driver.

Husky Ratchet Set

A good ratchet and socket set is a staple for the home and vehicle DIY’er. With how tight the vehicle manufacturers cram engine parts these days, it’s super helpful to have fine tooth ratchets. Luckily now they are available at affordable price points.  Husky has this great durable kit and includes a handy case with all of the size labels. To help with the tight spaces, these ratchets have 144-position (2.5° arc swing), turning a fastener in less than 3/4 in. of space!

Features

  • Set includes 2 ratchets (1/4″ & 3/8″), 115 sockets (SAE and metric) and 8 accessories (extensions and adapters)
  • Deep and standard 6-point sockets
  • Includes 24 bit sockets covering SAE hex, metric hex and Torx
  • Tools are made of chrome alloy steel for durability and strength
  • Sockets feature chamfered lead-ins to help provide fast and easy placement onto drive tools and fasteners

I have a Milwaukee 2457-21 and I love it. Every time, I use it. I do use it to both breaks free and to tighten fasteners past the tools electric drive torque limit and have had no problems.
