It’s amazing what projects you can do with 1 board. Sometimes it surprises me when a project will only take one board. Today I’m participating in a one board challenge, the size of board doesn’t matter, but can only use one. My little girl loves to color and craft. I’ve been meaning to make her a desk and chair set. I came across this super cute Double Dot Chair by Land of Nod, and thought it was perfect. However I can’t pay full price, because I know she’ll color on it and that will be very discouraging! The great thing is that you can build one kids chair with one 1″ x 8″ x 8′ board (about $10). I changed up the base a little bit to make it easier to build and assemble. The kids chair turned out adorable, now I better get on that desk!

My friend’s daughter got married recently and she wanted cute scallop mason jar centerpieces for the tables. She wanted some long boxes and some square boxes with removable dividers. They turned out really cute, I had to make one for myself.

Like many kids (and grown up kids 😉 ), my kids love those little angry birds and bad piggies! When I saw little foam footballs at The Home Depot, inspiration struck. I thought it would be fun to make an Angry Bird inspired, ‘angry football’ toss game.

Wood DIY LOVE Marquee Letters
My Aunt Becky is a wedding planner extraordinaire, or should be! She has helped with mine, my sister’s and cousin’s weddings, so to say I owe her a big favor would be an understatement. When my cousin, her youngest daughter, got married earlier in May; I was asked to make some huge LOVE marquee letters like seen in this cool LOVE picture via Rebecca Douglas – isn’t that stunning! From the dark picture, I can’t tell if the letters are flat or are trimmed out like typical marquee letters.
My Aunt needed the letters freestanding, so I opted to trim the letters. Either way the letters look really cool and are pretty easy to make, just take a little bit of time. They are really big, 40″ tall, and definitely make a statement.

DIY Flower Pot Stand
Today’s project isn’t very impressive, but it is something that I have been really needing to build for my flower pots by the porch. I have a few of these Bloom Master hanging pots for cascading flowers, they are what inspired the pallet planter box.
I intended to hang my baskets from shepherds hooks by my front porch. However when my large baskets are planted, they are too heavy and the hook can’t hold them. (Note: My Mom has the medium baskets and the shepherds hooks work fine.)
So I needed a little stand to get the baskets up off the ground and then beautiful flowers can cascade down! This stand is really simple and is inspired by a couple of planter stands from West Elm, this and this. I wanted my stands fairly tall to allow the Wave petunias to trail, you can easily adjust the height according to your needs.
It doesn’t look like much now, but in a couple of months it’ll look awesome!
