It is finally starting to look like spring around here in Utah. Sometimes we get teased with warm weather, and then a snow storm will hit the next day. Ha ha mother nature keeps us hopping.

As Spring brings in the good weather, it brings lots of yard work with it!

I don’t know about you, but when I do yard work, I just want my equipment to work so I can get it done. I hate messing around with pull strings, carburetors, mixed gas and regular gas. When I was a kid, I would wait until Dad came back for lunch to start the weed eater…I could never start that thing on my own. Oh and the tiller, well that was always a challenge.

As battery powered lawn equipment has evolved, I’ve always been drawn to it. No messing around with engines, just plug in the battery and get to work!

Is a battery powered lawn mower as tough as gas powered? Check out this Ryobi 40 volt lawn mower review.

I have been reviewing the Ryobi 40V battery powered 21″ self propelled Lawn Mower (available at Home Depot).

This lawn mower is awesome. It runs better than all of our previous gas mowers, plus it is so much quieter.

Farmhouse Style Twin over Full Bunk Bed Plans

My Brother and Sister-in-Law needed a bunk bed for their little boys. They already have a twin and full mattress, I made plans for a farmhouse style twin over full bunk bed. This bunk bed style works really well in their room and doesn’t cramp the space like separate twin and full beds would have done.  Thanks to my Bro and SIL for testing out these bunk bed plans. The boys are in love with their new beds!

Ridgid Cordless Drywall Screwdriver Tool Review

The Ridgid Cordless Drywall Screwdriver Tool Review is sponsored by The Home Depot. I have been compensated for my time and provided with product (tools). All ideas and opinions are my own. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

Not all drills are created equal. Today’s tool review is a drill with a specific purpose. This drill (screwdriver) is made to install drywall and decking screws. The unique shape of the drill lets you set the finished depth of the screw head you are driving in. That is a big deal when you are installing drywall, you definitely need all screws below the front surface of the drywall, but not too deep.

We’ll be looking at Ridgid’s 18V cordless drywall screwdriver, see how it works and it’s features.

DIY Marble Tray & Drilling Small Holes Through Tile

The DIY Marble Tray and Bosch Stone and Tile Drill Bit review is sponsored by The Home Depot. I have been compensated for my time and provided with product (tools). All ideas and opinions are my own. If you need to drill small holes in stone or tile, then I have been testing out the tool that you need.  This Bosch carbide tipped drill bit set is perfect for drilling natural stone, granite, slate, ceramic and glass tiles. These little bits are handy if you need to drill through tile to hang bathroom or kitchen hardware on the wall, hang mirrors or frames on tile/stone walls, drill through tile to mount base cabinets for a kitchen island, and the list goes on.

The kit I’m reviewing has bit sizes: 1/8″, 3/16″, 1/4″, and 5/16″. If you need larger sizes, they do sell those too. These bits are pretty straight forward to use, they are designed to be used with your regular drill, but can be used in a hammer drill.

Testing the bits

I tested out the carbide tile bits on different tile types with great success.

Unlike a regular bit on a hard surface, the carbide tip of these bits grip the surface so the bit doesn’t skate around when you’re starting the hole. Making it so you drill the hole where you want to drill the hole!

The bits give a nice clean hole.

White Craftsman Mantel and Shiplap Wall Makeover

White craftsman mantel and shiplap wall makeover is sponsored by The Home Depot. I have been compensated for my time and provided with product (tools). All ideas and opinions are my own. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

My Aunt’s house was built in the early 90’s, when honey oak was all the rage. She’s had a few updates along the way, but she is ready to get rid of her honey oak mantel and go light and bright with a modern craftsman mantel and shiplap wall. One major goal of this makeover is to mount her large 75″ TV above her fireplace. The current oak mantel is too tall to mount the TV and it is not wide enough to look balanced with the TV.

Before I came to help her with the mantel and shiplap wall, she had an electrician come and move some outlets and put a cord tube (blue) in the wall so she won’t have cords showing.

She is LOVING the new look and having the TV mounted and out of the corner of the room. The bright white really lightens up the space up!

This post will show how I built the mantel from a $32 sheet of MDF and some 2×4’s. This whole wall makeover with the shiplap, mantel, paint, supplies etc came in less than $300. It made a huge impact and didn’t cost that much money! yay
