Table Top Gingham Christmas Trees

Gingham has been holding strong in Christmas decor for a few years now. The gingham has changed color combos a little, but I seem to see it everywhere. I thought it would be fun to use up some scrap wood and make a few table top gingham Christmas trees. As long as you paint these cute little trees with chalk paint (that dries quickly), then you can easily knock out a few of them in 2 hours!

I made a few trees in green and white.DIY green and white gingham Christmas Trees for your table top decor. Free vinyl template file to make your own.

And some in black and white:

Both color combos turned out fun IMO. Do you have a favorite color combo?

Husky Mechanics Tools Set Review

Husky Mechanics Tool Set review is sponsored by The Home Depot. I have been compensated for my time and provided with product (tools). All ideas and opinions are my own. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

We drive old cars at this house. It’s even become somewhat of a joke. One day at my husband’s work, a building wide email was sent out notifying the employees that a “mature Volkswagon” has it’s lights on in the parking lot.  A few minutes later, a colleague sent an email to my husband wondering if that was his “mature Passat” with the lights on. 🙂 It wasn’t his car with the lights on, but the politically correct “mature” in reference to old cars has stuck! 🙂 🙂

Our mature Passat is 20 years old, and my husband has been a champ at keeping it running. That poor car has needed a lot of TLC over the years in the engine department.

The problem we’ve run into with standard ratchet sets is that you’ll be in the middle of a car fix and you’ll need that one special tool that you don’t have. It’s super frustrating because you have to stop what you’re doing and run to the store and hope they have it.

One thing we love about this kit is that it comes with so many specialty bits and ratchet features that help you in those tight places!

Farmhouse Piano Octave Sign

Piano Octave Sign and Diablo tool review is sponsored by The Home Depot. I have been compensated for my time and provided with product (tools). All ideas and opinions are my own. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

A few months ago at the Swiss Days Craft Fair, I saw the cutest full piano keyboard sign. I thought it was pretty novel and super cute for piano enthusiasts. This quarter in the Home Depot THDprospective campaign I’m in, I have been reviewing 2 types of specialty circular saw blades: Diablo steel demon and Diablo wood and metal. The steel demon is awesome for cutting thin steel bar and tubing. The wood and metal blade is fantastic for situations where you may hit nails or metal embedded in wood aka pallets! I thought it would be fun to make my piano teacher friend an inspired version of the full keyboard, with pallet wood and flat bar metal, but only do one octave of keys.

5 Portable Tool Storage Solutions for Work on the Go

Portable tool storage tool review is sponsored by The Home Depot. I have been compensated for my time and provided with product (tools). All ideas and opinions are my own. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

In the 1989 Field of Dreams movie the motto was: “If you build it, he will come.” Well for a DIY’er the adage is just slightly different: “If you can build it, they will call!” 🙂 When the opportunities arise (and they will) to help out a friend, family members or even a client with a project, it sure is nice to have portable tool storage solutions when you’re on the go.

I am going to highlight a few of my favorite products to keep things mobile, but leave me a comment if you have a favorite product I should check out.

1. Husky 10″ Round – 19 Pocket Canvas Tote

The first product is a little canvas tote that I love to use constantly in the shop and on the go. I like to put all of my different screw types and sizes in the 6 larger center pockets. In the outer pockets, I put my most common bits and hand tools/screw drivers. The center handle is convenient. You can plop 3 or 4 of these in a 5 gallon bucket to take on the go.  Definitely one of my favorite totes.

Queen X Barn Door Farmhouse Bed Plan

A little while ago, I built myself a X Barn door farmhouse bed – king size, which we love. The version of the king bed I made has storage underneath the bed. I received a few requests to make plans for Queen size bed without the under bed storage.  If interested, here are plans for a matching nightstand – Farmhouse X Nightstand
