DIY Glamorous Crib

This is a fun project that I did in collaboration with my neighbor who owns DK Leigh.  My neighbor, Camille started DK Leigh when she had a hard time finding unique baby bedding for her kids that wouldn’t break the bank.  She has a new glamorous bedding line coming out and needs a glamorous crib to go with it.

Isn’t this a beautiful room!

However glamorous/designer cribs usually come with a hefty price tag, then she came up with a brilliant idea, why not upgrade an existing cheap crib to look like a designer crib.

That’s where I come into play.  In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to take an existing crib and turn it into a DIY Glamorous Crib.  This is the inspiration crib.  For this tutorial we used a white Graco Charleston convertible crib, but you can do the same thing with many different crib styles.

The result:

This is so cool! I can change my old crib into a glamorous designer style crib for about $50.

I think the transformation turned out fabulous, the periwinkle trim matches the bedding!  The back of the crib will also make a super cute head board for a full bed.  You can get the gorgeous bedding here*.

Pallet Planter Box For Cascading Flowers

Hi!  I’d love for you to follow me on Pinterest Her Tool Belt  and if you love instagram, you can keep up with me there too!

I have a dream… that some day I can grow those amazing cascading flower baskets like the ones from Bloom Master.  My home town has been hanging those baskets for the last 5-10 years or so, and they make main street look amazing.  My Mom plants them too, and her yard looks amazing.  I bought some of the large Bloom Master pots years ago thinking the cascading flowers would look awesome hanging off the back deck.  However the sun is really harsh during the afternoon, it gets overly windy, and every year I fail.  My flower pots look ok, but not full and stunning.  So this year, I’m trying it again but in the front yard where the flowers will be more protected.  I also want to dress up a window that’s a little boring.  I built a large planter box out of pallets, since it is made from pallets I won’t feel bad ruining the wood.  I’ll post periodic updates to show the progress of the wave petunias, hoping for amazing!

Industrial Cart – Apothecary Cabinet

I’m excited about this project, I was able to collaborate with the talented Amy from High Style Restyle.   Amy and her Dad picked up an awesome curb side find, an oak china cabinet headed for the dump.  The top part of the hutch was transformed into a beautiful barrister style bookcase.   For the bottom cabinet, she envisioned an industrial cart/ apothecary cabinet.

You have got to see the after pics, unbelievable!!!I’ve certainly got to hand it to Amy, I never would have thought of making an industrial cart out of a china hutch – some people just have all of the creativity!  Amy contacted me to help with some plans and I was more than happy to help out.  Her final product is way better than the plans I sent, and it turned out amazing!  Can you even believe it’s the same cabinet?

Since we won’t all be lucky enough to find an oak china cabinet on the side of the road, I’ll share plans on how to make this industrial cart from scratch, then make sure you go visit Amy’s post for all the in process steps and to get that beautiful finish!

Rustic Mr and Mrs Blocks

My cousin is getting married soon, and they are having a country/rustic themed wedding.  I have worked with him off and on at the farm over the years.  He even helped me take down Remo’s Barn.  Remo's old barn I’ve seen those cute cursive wood signs on etsy and I thought it would be fun to cut out a set of super chunky Mr & Mrs for him and his fiance.  I’m sure she’ll like them more than he will 🙂  However the wood is from Remo’s Barn, so it does have a little sentimental value.   Continue reading

Winter Luminaries

I know what you’re thinking, ugh another mason jar project.  Yep, it is.  These are quick and easy winter luminaries, I used them on my Winter Wonderland Tablescape that my Mom has been enjoying at her house.  The mix of frosted glass and flocked snow give off a nice glow.

Frosted and flocked pine trees make these easy winter themed luminaries have a beautiful glow.

I used 3 different jar sizes for the tablescape: 2 quart, 1 quart and pint.  Although you can make them with any size jar that you want.
